Once the Sun returns to Aries each year there is always a lot of change, for the Sun always returns to Aries on the spring/autumn equinox. There is change in the air, the seasons are changing and the Sun leads the march into the new Astrological year. Yet this year this is mirrored by the actual change, change that is balanced with a lot of stability. From Uranus’ direct turn in Aries on the 3rd January to Jupiter’s retrograde turn in Scorpio on the 9th March, all the major planets in the solar system were in direct motion. Ceres was still in retrograde motion in Leo, but as a dwarf planet she wasn’t strong enough to slow down the momentum of the year.

It was Mercury’s return two weeks later that saw another handbrake come on and this month that continues, with Saturn turning retrograde in Capricorn on the 18th April and Pluto just five days later, on the 25th April. Mercury will turn direct on 15th April, but Jupiter is in retrograde motion until July, Saturn until September and Pluto until early October and with Neptune, Chiron and Uranus all turning retrograde in the middle months of the year, we won’t experience the hectic pace of the first two months again.

However, this does not mean that life will become stalled, with a lot of movement this month. While Mars will spend the whole month in Capricorn and Mercury the whole month in Aries Venus, who only returned to Taurus on the 31st March will leave and return to Gemini on the 25th April. The Sun will move from Aries to Taurus on the 20th April and we have two Full Moon’s this month, the first in Libra on the 1st April, underway as the month begins and a second in Scorpio on the 30th April.

What is significant about these two Full Moons is that they both have an association with Jupiter. The Full Moon in Libra on the 1st April is the first since Jupiter left last October, while Jupiter is now in Scorpio, where the Full Moon on the 30th April will fall. When you have a Full Moon acting as a trigger and there is untapped Jupiter potential in the air, then this becomes a lot more significant than the Full Moons that will always fall at around this time every year.

Because a Full Moon is an opposition between the Sun and Moon there could be some tension at the start of the month. With the Moon not leaving until the 2nd April and with not just the Sun but three other planets to oppose the month might get off to a bumpy start. However, with no planetary activity in Libra, this will quickly drop back. As for the Sun, he is part of a push to not only wrap up his month long visit to Aries, but to bring a journey that began in 2010 home.

It was in 2010 that Uranus returned to Aries, where he has been working to help you find your personal truth, in the area of your chart ruled by Aries – your Monthly Horoscopes and Monthly Reports will detail which area that is. However, Uranus is leaving next month and this makes this more than simply the annual update the Aries ruled area of your chart gets at this time every year. Normally Mercury will move through in 15 days, but his retrograde phase means that while he will turn direct on the 15th April, he won’t leave until the 14th May, two months after arriving and just two days before Uranus leaves.

Yet while Uranus is leaving Aries next month Chiron, planet of healing returns on the 17th April, for the first time in four decades. This begins a period of healing, learning and growth that will continue out to 2027, with a chance to build on the last eight years. So while there are endings in the Aries ruled area of your chart, the journey continues.

It is Uranus’ return to Taurus next month, for the first time since 1942 that will turn this from an area of your chart that is active for just a few months each year, into a major area of your chart through to 2026. This makes Venus’ return in the final hours of March especially fortuitous. With the Sun not returning to Taurus until the 20th April, Venus has a three week jump that allows you to get your heart a first look at what you want, build your confidence and attract opportunities. Again your Monthly Horoscopes and Monthly Reports will detail which area of your chart is ruled by Taurus.

What makes the timing even more fortuitous is that this gives Venus time to build a strong connection with Mars, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn. The month begins with Saturn and Mars aligned in Capricorn until the 3rd April, for the first time in 28 years. This is the first time in our lifetime that Mars, Saturn and Pluto have met in Capricorn in our lifetime and with Saturn here until December 2020 and Pluto until 2024, this will remain a strong, if not the strongest area of your chart for the next six years. The same bridges that Venus is building this month, through her friendly aspect to Saturn on the 8th April, Mars on the 10th/12th April and Pluto on the 17th/18th April, are the same friendly aspects that every other planet moving through will make. Uranus is too slow to catch up with and form an exact friendly aspect, but with Uranus in Taurus until 2026 and Pluto in Capricorn until 2024, this is the start of a beautiful relationship.

Why this is important is that Taurus and Capricorn are not only both Earth signs, but they are at a friendly aspect to each other. Again your Monthly Horoscopes and Monthly Reports will detail which areas of your chart are ruled by Taurus and Capricorn, but as an example if you are an Aries, Taurus rules your income sector and Capricorn your career sector. If you are a Scorpio, Taurus rules your relationship sector and Capricorn your communication sector – fellow elemental signs support each other.

Uranus won’t return to Taurus until next month, but Venus will not only move through every degree of Taurus this month, before the Sun returns on the 20th April, but will start building those bridges.

While the Sun is helping to bring home Uranus’ eight year visit to Aries, Venus is already hard at work, preparing for Uranus’ return to Taurus next month.

Venus’ return to Taurus does put her in opposition with Jupiter in Scorpio, but even when this peaks on the 17th April this can’t help but be a positive. Jupiter is the planet of luck and Venus the planet of opportunity, so they will be working together, raising the bar in the Taurus and Scorpio ruled area of your chart.

Once the Sun returns to Taurus on the 20th April, Venus will move on two days later, giving her just enough time to fill the Sun in on your shopping list. It is then that Venus will return to Gemini on the 25th April, not only bringing the first planetary activity here since mid 2017 but the first without Saturn in opposition since 2014. While you only have the Sun, Mercury and Venus moving through Gemini this year, with Mars joining the South Node in fellow Air sign Aquarius next month, this will be part of something bigger. Without the restraints of the last three years, Venus will lead the way into what could be a growth period in the Gemini and Aquarius ruled areas of your chart. Again your Monthly Horoscopes and Monthly Reports will detail which areas of your chart are ruled by Gemini and Aquarius, for example, if you are a Virgo, Gemini rules your career sector and Aquarius your work sector. As was the case with the planetary activity in Taurus and Capricorn, elemental signs work together.

Another area of your chart of importance this month is Chiron, planet of healing’s final weeks in Pisces. Until leaving on the 17th April, Chiron is wrapping up a visit that began in 2010. Except returning later in the year, this is more a case of putting things on hold for now. While the planets returning to Taurus do move into opposition with Jupiter, as the planet of luck and expansion spends his first full month in retrograde motion in Scorpio he has plenty of support from Chiron until he leaves fellow Water sign Pisces on the 17th April and from Neptune, with the planet of dreams there until 2026.
