Wow! How on earth do I do this month justice or even get close to explaining just how extraordinary the conditions are. The first month of any year is always important and while it is not always the case, it can give us a feel for what kind of year to expect.
In that context, 2020 is a year that has put everything out front, with everything in the shop window from the get go. This is also the month that Astrologers around the world have been writing about, preparing for and trying to predict for years now but the closer I get, the more extraordinary this month actually looks.
What makes January 2020 such a pivotal month is that the Saturn/Pluto conjunction that has been building ever since Saturn returned to Capricorn in December 2017 is finally upon us. For the last two years, they have been slowly drawing closer, with retrograde phases taking them further apart and direct phases bringing them together again, each time a little bit closer. Finally, in a very ordinary week in January 2020, the extraordinary happens.
The actual, exact alignment between Saturn and Pluto happens on 12th/13th January but they are at the same degree (22 degrees Capricorn), from 6th January to 15th January. There is a lot of hype about this with Saturn, the planet of structure aligning with Pluto, the planet of change and revolution to bring major shifts. However, the reality is that they have been slowly drawing closer for the last two years and this is a slow moving shift. Had it not been for other developments at the time, I could very easily see this as being a non event.
This is no train wreck you don’t see coming and we have literally had two years to prepare for it. To me, I see this as empowering, with Pluto giving you the confidence to change and Saturn the power to move mountains if you have to. While Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion is spending his first full month in Capricorn and will be here until December, he is too far away from Saturn and Pluto, so won’t be involved in this.
However the Sun, Mercury and Ceres are right in and I really do mean, right in the middle of things. While Saturn and Pluto are aligned, between 11th January and 14th January the Sun, Mercury and Ceres will all reach 22 degrees as well, creating two rare quadruple alignments. Mercury, Ceres, Pluto and Saturn will all be aligned on 12th January and two days later the Sun, Ceres, Pluto and Saturn will be aligned in Capricorn as well. A triple alignment is rare. A quadruple alignment is even rarer, but we have two in the space of 22 days and right in the middle of a major Saturn/Pluto conjunction, the astrological event of the millennium.
What could make this period even more intense is that the Moon will not only move through Cancer, opposing sign to Capricorn but will create a lunar eclipse here on 11th January. A lunar eclipse is an eclipsing Full Moon, with the Sun and Moon moving into opposition. This time the Moon will move into all six planets in Capricorn from 9th January to 11th January, just as they are coming together. So what we have is a major pileup of planets in Capricorn, with a lunar eclipse giving things a push.
As always, I have gone into as much detail as I can in the January Monthly Horoscopes and the 2020 Horoscopes and I will continue to go into this in the Daily and Weekly Horoscopes, but to be honest I am a passenger in this as well. However, as I am writing this on New Year’s Eve none of my spider senses are picking up anything to be worried about and if anything, I can feel a sense of excitement. To say that 2020 is going to get off to an exciting start is an understatement.
Saturn is a planet that demands that you pay the piper and if you have put in the hard work, then this will be an empowering time and if you haven’t yet done the hard work it will become clear what you need to do. What we need to bear in mind is that whatever is happening in the Capricorn ruled area of your chart this month, lucky Jupiter will touch over the coming months, bringing good fortune, expansion and opportunities in its wake.
Mercury will leave Capricorn on 17th January, the Sun on 21st January and Ceres on 31st January, with half of the six planets that begin the month here, gone by the end of the month.
Meanwhile, Venus managed to get out of the kitchen before the heat rose too much and left Capricorn just before Christmas. Venus will spend the first two weeks of January in Aquarius, where she is happily minding her own business, before joining dreamy Neptune in Pisces on 14th January.
This means that Venus will be gone by the time Mercury returns on 17th January, the Sun on 21st January and Ceres on 31st. Where Venus leads the way, the rest of the faster moving planets will follow. This will leave Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter on their own in Capricorn by the end of the month and here for the long haul, whatever push happens mid month will have become more of a journey by the end of the month.
This is definitely the month that will define the course that the rest of 2020 will take so it is important to pay attention. The January Monthly Horoscopes and the 2020 Horoscopes are now available and I will continue to go into this in the Daily and Weekly Horoscopes – you can also get more detailed information through the Monthly Horoscope Reports and more personal information through the 2020 Personal Chart and Roadmap, which is still on special – normally $125 they are on special for just $50 for both.
All the very best for the New Year, for 2020 and the journey head.
